Goal: Optimize an existing product based on user and business needs
PROBLEM
Flywheel is a mobile app for the taxi industry connecting passengers with professional, licensed drivers. Taxis provide many benefits however Flywheel is losing market share to cheaper, private drivers such as Uber and Lyft.
PROCESS
Identify Pain Points.
I watched as people attempted to navigate through the app to call a cab. The interface is not intuitive and first time users were especially frustrated. The map is distracting and the buttons are confusing. The call to actions were not clear and did not guide the user through the process. People accurately requested a ride only 20% of the time.
Design a better experience.
SOLUTION
I optimized the UI and created Hi-Fi mockups to use for click-through mobile app. I watched as users experienced the new interface. The conversion to accurately requesting a ride jumped from 20% to 100%.
I recommended competitive features for Flywheel to increase user base and engagement. I identified KPIs to measure long-term success and recommended marketing efforts including community outreach, brand awareness, and promotions.
